increasing input and membership

One month on, not much input, just a thought about a monthly report sent by email to all members reviewing the past months discussions and results of poll questions. Once a month update to remind members that don't come back to the forum often that it is alive and active.

Making and placements of geocaches near soaks, adding to the data base and additional reasons to visit.

Willing members could act as regional advisors to their favorite soaking sights, arranging local clean-ups and conservation.

Let us as the core group, plant the seeds for the future, hot springs for all!

Almost 50 reads but no replies, where is the discussion we sorely need?

As a new member (just this week) and avid soaker I LOVE this idea. I don't have a lot of spare time to dedicate to these efforts but will help however I can.

Ciao,
Bob

Providing some local guidance and some clean-up duty would be something I'd love to take part in--if I lived closer than the 2,000 to 3,000 miles away from Rockies-Great Basin-California hot springs than I presently live, which is Raleigh, NC.

A reminder about this site going out to all users is in the works, however, there are some technical hurdles to clear first. Large batches of emails being sent are often seen as spam by the receiving servers and could lead to the blacklisting of the IP address of the server - it has already with AOL this past month and not only was this site affected, but all the other sites I host on the server. I had to go back and forth with AOL to prove that this forum wasn't sending spam in-order to have the blacklisting removed. Still trying to figure out what exactly caused it, but I have some ideas...

I've been focusing my effort over the last month on controlling spam and cleaning up the DB. Once I get a little more comfortable with the settings I'll start working on other modifications to the site.

HI--JMHO--Increasing our user base of "Lurkers" serves no purpose. What would be best is to increase the now user base to post more trip reports--How--??? IDK--On one of our OLD HS sites the owner held contests on the best pictures--best HS reports--ect--some thing to keep us mortals interested--??

It worked good until the Boise users had more members and they always won--maybe a challenge of some type--i know when we floated the Main Salmon there was always a contest for asshole of the day--they got a cold water bucket over their head and had to pack the garbage for the day--we never won as we had the beer boat--27 cases of beer and a few gallons of whiskey. And whine--?? My memory is foggy--hehe.

HS pics are always interesting--I could post more pics as i think the statue of limitation has run out on some--hehe--most would be nude though--what are the feelings now days for posting nude/suitless people on this site--??? :D S

Maybe a simple thing to increase members contributing is "Best Picture of the Month" start a post where everyone post their pics and people could comment and at the end of the month add them up and declare a most liked photo--costs nothing--and someone wins the bragging rights--or a trip to Gold Bug Hot Springs-- --hehe--
