Re: Descending Default?

I hear ya. Look to the right, my good soakers. When you see a list of topics, you see a little page icon with an arrow pointing down & to the right. That is a link to the latest unread post. Next, when you click into a topic, there's a link on the right that says "First Unread Post". T...

Re: Hot springs for sale thread?

Hot Springs for sale has been "sticky"ed to the top of the Free-For-All;
And I've changed the search settings to include all words so searches like "for sale" now finds posts instead of complaining about the works being "too common".

Enjoy!

Re: Hot springs for sale thread?

Seems to me too... I would have thought it was in the Free-For-All... but there may be too much sleep in my eyes this morning to find it. Speaking of searching; I changed the search index so that it would find more words; and reject less as being too common. I deleted the current index and started a...

Re: Any way to have links open a new tab?

Unfortunately, that's one of the changes in this new release.
The workaround? Simply use your control key with your mouse click to open that link in a new tab. To test this, put your cursor over my avatar & cntl/click.... B^)

Hope that helps.

I changed their display to pale blue but I'm not so sure I like that.... I'll play with it when I get a tad more time.

Common words in Search Query....

So may words... so little time. When using the Advanced search function, I'm finding a few words that are returning with a "Common" message rather than hits. The message is: The following words in your search query were ignored because they are just simply too common: "Whitehorse"...

Looks like the search is working better now... but it's still indexing. Searching on Gila in NM rendered 3 hits!

Enjoy...

Re: New Board Has Been implemented this weekend!

It may be that I'll need to rebuild the search index.... When I last looked, the indexing had only 350ish words indexed, there's a whole lot more in 9000+ posts. I'll check it again & will update this post. Edit: I'm currently rebuilding the search index. I'll let ya'll know when it has complete...

Re: New Board Has Been implemented this weekend!

Thanks! Fixed: o Smilies o Board registration question Still needs attention: o "View Unread Posts" is MIA - The new SW has "View New Posts" - There's apparently a mod for that and I'll get to it... Answers: o "View Unanswered Posts" simply lists all posts on the board ...

Re: New Board Has Been implemented this weekend!

Ok - now I understand. The "View New Posts" doesn't take into account that you've already viewed them because I've viewed all of them as well but when I click on that link - it lists all the new posts of the day. Hmmm... needs more testing. So far on my list: o View New Posts oddity o Fix ...

Re: New Board Has Been implemented this weekend!

Wayne, Try deleting your cookies (link in lower right corner). I fixed the smilies issue - it appeared some didn't get installed. Don't know why... On the unread posts & messages; what browser are you using? I'll test it using that platform/browser combo. I use Firefox on all platforms bu...

Thanks! That was about the time I headed off to bed. There's still some work to do on this version but it appears to be workable at this point.

When I start this process, I'll disable the board. It would be nice be able to set it to read-only but that doesn't appear to be possible.

Help that hopes!

New Board Has Been implemented this weekend!

Fellow soakers, I'll be installing the new board over the weekend. I've reinstated the banner page at http://soakersforum.com/index.html (or http://soakersforum.com ) informing you of the latest updates. When I'm ready to chop over to the new board, I'll take this one offline whereupon you'll be gre...

Ok, try reloading the main page now. (image resized from 600px to 400px in width) Regarding images in general - while we recommend maximum sizes, we don't restrict them so you'll get what people post. If you encounter a section where the images are too wide or there's too many to display on your net...

Which specific topics? Or is it my fancy banner image? I'll fix it if that's causing you problems.... For the rest of us - when posting images, it's a good idea to size them prior to posting a link to the image in your posting. Generally it's best to limit the width to 700-800 pixels. This image is ...
