I'll look into the matter for you, Collins. In the mean time, you can email the member rather than PM them if they have a public email address. Else, send me a message at soakersforum AT gmail.com and we'll work on it!

The interweb's a big place, and we posters can be fickle creatures. Therefore, being the judiciary on an open forum is touchier then most people think. Patience, my dear soaking friends, Patience is a virture. As the Uber stated, we posters can be fickle creatures, no matter what the board. I have ...

That's an excellent idea, Eric. Soaky, we miss you! It doesn't take much, sometimes, to upset someone's apple cart. People are like that, no matter how much we like to think otherwise. But life goes one, we all learn more every day, we modify our behavior for better or for worse and this, too, shall...

You've got memory! Actually, Firefox remembers values typed into forms and passwords too! You can change this behavior by setting Edit> Preferences... Then in the Privacy preference, click on Saved Forms, uncheck "Save information I enter in forms and the Search Bar". You can also save pas...

Soaksdata, about what time was this happening? And - did it happen consecutively or was it over the span of time? If this happens again, you can drop Eric or myself a line via email with the times & details. If others have seen issues, we'll hear about it. If not, Eric can check with the hosting...

On the opening page after logging in, on the left hand side, near the bottom there is a clickable link that "marks all fourms read". Click it. Then log out. I use it after reading the posts so that when I log in again only the new ones show up.. Hope that helps... Jeff, I don't have that ...

If necessary, tap the Esc key to stop the images from loading. This stops the download but all the text in the article should be loaded. You can then read the conversation. I know this kind of defeats the purpose of the postings but in some cases there are way too many images so it takes a while for...

Actually, it's the other way around, Jeff. If someone sends you a PM, they can delete the PM before you read it. Because you have "Notify on Private Messages" turned on, you'll get the email but when you go check your private messages, you'll find no new ones. If you'd like to try it, drop...

... P.S. One offhand comment making an analogy between dial-up and TV antennas and look what happened. Good grief. Yea... And the heck of it is, 3 of the moderators are contributing to the off-topic-ness of the thread. :? (Me included) So if we have 40 posts per page, wouldn't that just make each v...

You are correct, Wayne.

Dirty jobs with Mike Rowe... (Think... Think... What....else....comes....to...mind...)

Er.. I'm sure there's lots of other material we'd watch if we had it to watch.

Kim, Check your messages. Even on a fat pipeline, that many images takes a while to load when the cache has been flushed. I'd prefer to see seperate articles (postings) per spring rather than per trip but I can see where it messes up the continuity. I work on 4 platforms (Solaris, Linux, Mac, window...

Bunch of long haired hippy freaks.... the lot of us!
If that officer in the middle was an enlisted man and was about 30 lbs lighter, I'd say that looks an awful lot like me!

I think it's time to moderate this topic and move it to Free-For-All!

I used to use those sound powered phones - I was the fantail to bridge phone talker on a FastFrigate - the USS Stein - FF1065. I also stood fog watches on the bow... Complete with those phones affixed to my noggin. The ship was decommissioned a few years ago and was sold to the Mexican Navy. It's no...

Should I wait a few days to add this feature to the image/links guidelines in the pictures section? This will give the users time to see if it fits their needs or if there's other changes. I agree, tho, that you shouldn't host images on your own server as there are plenty of other fine services out ...
