Bruce, Thanks for posting the pic and URL. It has been four years since we soaked at the hot spring in Big Bend. Happy there were a lot fewer soakers then than in the pic. Still have plans to get back down there again one of these years. Hopefully will be better prepared for the flora and fauna which are all sharp and pointy down there.

Pointy fauna?

Big Bend has plenty of venomous fauna (rattlesnakes, tarantulas, scorpions). I suppose their teeth are pointy. ;-)

Let's not forget the javelina, bears and mountain lions (panthers & cougars included w/ mountain lions). Sharp, pointy and not friendly.

Did you see a bear or mountain lion at Big Bend? I've seen javalinas many times there, but never a bear or mountain lion.

As we were leaving Terlingua Abajo late in the day, a panther zipped across the road ahead of us. Oddly enough, it looked exactly like a small Colorado mountain lion .

Didn't see any bears, altho a small black bear had been reported a week previously near the Mule Ears. Didn't see any javelina either but did see what was left of a campsite they'd visited. Didn't see any coyotes, even when they serenaded us every night.
